The Ford Edge is not the first vehicle that
comes to mind when you think towing, but depending on what you have to haul this mid-size SUV
might just surprise you. If you do not have the need for a full-size
truck every day and want to enjoy the benefits of better gas mileage the Edge might just
fit your needs. The Edge has a Class II Trailer Tow Package
option available and when equipped the maximum towing capacity is 3,500lbs with the 2.0L
Ecoboost or the 3.5L V6. The Edge Sport equipped with the 2.7L Ecoboost
does not have the tow package available but if you fit an aftermarket hitch to your Edge
Sport you can tow up to 2,000lbs. The Edge comes standard with a Twin-Scroll
2.0L EcoBoost that can deliver an impressive 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Optional engines include the the 3.5L V6,
which increases to 280 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The top of the line Edge Sport carries the
2.7L EcoBoost V6 twin-turbocharged engine, which puts out 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft
of torque. If you have more to haul around than just
what you can tow, you will need to know how much cabin space is available. The Ford Edge offers an ample 113.9 cubic
feet of interior space which can easily accommodate up to five passengers.
When it comes to the vehicle’s cargo space,
there’s 39.2 cubic feet behind the second row.
Once the second row is folded down, this increases
your cargo space to 73.
4 cubic feet, nearly doubling the Edge’s cargo capacity. The Edge might not be the first vehicle you
think of when it comes to towing and hauling but depending on your load it could surely
get the job done. Come see us and check out the Edge in person
